Suzanne Andrews

Suzanne Andrews

As an angel investor, Suzanne focuses her investments on positive social impact companies, with a particular interest in the fair fashion industry. Suzanne also writes about women’s startup culture, investigating the possibilities for disruption now that there are more women investors available to support previously under-funded high-impact women entrepreneurs. Previously, as Director at the Anita Borg Institute, Suzanne supported the TechWomen program, bringing technical women leaders and entrepreneurs from the Middle East and North Africa to the United States for partnerships with Silicon Valley women. Suzanne spent ten years as a software engineer at Apple Computer. She has also been a midwife’s assistant and a doula, and has held Chapter Leader positions for the International Cesarean Awareness Network and the National Organization for Women. Suzanne has a BA in Computer Science from Brown University. Suzanne is proud mom to Emily, 18, and Ian, 11.

Miguel established the foundations for SV Links since 2006 when he worked for IPADE Business School and started business trips to Silicon Valley. In 2011 this activities derived in the constitution of SV Links as a non-profit organization devoted to connect business persons from Latin America with the Silicon Valley in California. As an entrepreneur he has co-founded Ovalpath Inc. a start-up based in Silicon Valley and raised the initial funding for the company. In 2006 he also founded Mi Oración Predilecta AC a non-profit organization in Mexico.

Miguel has deep experience in all aspects of technology development from research to business development. His experience spans over 15 years from his time at IBM as Supplier Development Engineer to helping governments and universities develop innovation and technology programs. Miguel holds a Master Degree in Business Administration from the IPADE business school and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology. Recently founded SVAN a new investment fund in Silicon Valley.

James Huie is a corporate and securities associate in Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati's Palo Alto office. James advises companies on general corporate matters, including formation and operation, corporate governance, early- and later-stage venture capital financings, debt financings, and public offerings. He also advises companies on transaction matters and has worked on a number of mergers and acquisition transactions. Additionally, James has experience representing a number of venture capital firms in venture capital financings.

Ariel is a General Partner of Brainstorm Ventures, an early stage technology fund. Prior portfolio companies include OpenTable and Zappos. He is also Vice President of Pacific Community Management, a growth equity impact investment firm, and serves on the boards of portfolio companies Bentek, Freshology, and New Leaf Paper. Previously, Ariel worked at the Bridgespan Group, an affiliate of Bain & Company, as a management consultant. He advised clients, such as the Gates Foundation and Hispanic Scholarship Fund, on their investment and growth strategies. Ariel briefly led the United Nations Development Programme’s Growing Sustainable Business Initiative in Venezuela. Prior to business school, Ariel worked in various capacities at Intel Corporation, including as a manufacturing engineer, pricing analyst and strategic planning manager. Ariel is a member of the Society of Kauffman Fellows. He received his MBA from the Wharton School and also holds BS and MS degrees in industrial engineering from UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech, respectively. Ariel is a native Spanish speaker and New Yorker.

Ms. Kovacs has over 30 years experience directing technology companies and a track record of using her strategic business skills and background to deliver exceptional results with growing enterprises.
Currently, Ms. Kovacs is President of the Northern California Chapter of HBS Alumni Angels, which provides a forum for Harvard alumni to connect with, learn about, and invest in quality early-stage companies.
Although focused on the investment side these days, Ms. Kovacs has spent most of her career in managing and growing businesses. Most recently, she was CEO and co-founder of Comergent Technologies, a fast-growing leader in e-business. Comergent became a world-class organization, committed to providing real-world business solutions to global enterprises. In late 2006, Comergent was purchased by Sterling Commerce (a division of AT&T).
Prior to Comergent, Kovacs co-founded Qualix Group, a developer of reliability software in distributed computing environments. Qualix went public in 1997. She was Director of Marketing at Frame Technology (IPO 1992) and also held positions in sales, marketing, and support at Sun Microsystems (IPO 1986), and Compugraphic Corporation.
Kovacs was named to the Silicon Valley/San Francisco Business Journal’s list of Most Influential Women in Business in 2008. In 2014, Kovacs was selected as one of a group of Harvard Business School alumni honored by the dean for making an impact through leadership roles. She also has been profiled by influential publications such as Fortune Magazine, The Financial Times, Computerworld, Internet World and InfoWorld.
Ms. Kovacs holds a MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree in finance from Northeastern University. She currently sits on various technology boards and is an advisor to two investment groups. Jean is also Chair of the Audit Committee and Board Chair Emeritus of BUILD, a non-profit organization that works with high-school students in under-resourced communities.

Ted is a Managing Partner at Tech-Rx Ventures, investing in consumer products and technologies in the energy, biotechnology and web industries. Previously, Ted was a Principal at 8 Rivers Capital where he helped commercialize NET Power (lower cost, zero air emissions electricity from a natural gas power system - $140mm raised to date), ParkIntuit (parking infrastructure and analytics platform) and Hemosonics (fast, accurate hemostasis diagnostics). Ted was also the Founder and COO of Buystand (an ECN platform for consumer products) through its merger in 2013. Early in his career, Ted was a Technology Analyst at Tech Coast Angels, the largest angel investment network in the US. Ted holds an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and a BS in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Arizona. In 2013, Ted completed the Executive Program in Design Thinking at Stanford GSB. Ted lives in Silicon Valley, is an active early-stage investor and start-up mentor and serves on the advisory boards of numerous early-stage companies.
