Prof. Prasert Assantachai, is the current Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine as well as the Head of Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine of Siriraj Hospital. He is a well-known Thai internist, geriatrician. He is also a Fellow at the Royal College Physicians Thailand and Royal College Physicians London.
Etienne GC Brain, MD PhD, has been working since 1998 as a medical oncologist at the Hôpital René Huguenin (Saint-Cloud, France), which is now part of the academic centre Institut Curie. He obtained both his MD and PhD from University Paris V René Descartes, the latter after leading works in preclinical and clinical pharmacology on alkylating agents and liver metabolism in Boston (Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Boston University) and Saint Cloud (Centre René Huguenin). He was the Deputy Director for Research at Centre René Huguenin from 2008-2009, until the merge with Institut Curie happened in 2010. This latter has made the “multisites institution” Institut Curie one of the largest hospital dedicated to cancer management in Europe, with special focus on breast cancer (~ 3,000 new cases yearly), employing 2,000 care-givers and 1,000 researchers. Etienne Brain is currently in charge of the settlement of the new Department of Clinical Research of Institut Curie in Saint-Cloud. He is the chairman of the committee for the evaluation of clinical research of the Institut Curie.
Dr. Buena is the current Chairman of the Board of Nutrition and Dietetics at Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) of the Philippine since 2009. Dr Divyanshu ‘Divy’ Dua is a consultant medical oncologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Dr Dua trained in internal medicine and medical oncology in Australia as part of FRACP before completing a clinical fellowship in drug development, early phase trials and thoracic malignancies at the Guy’s Hospital, London (UK), and the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (UK).
Thoracic malignancies – including lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymoma – continue to be of special clinical interest to Dr Dua. He also has particular interest in the treatment of Genitourinary malignancies malignant melanoma, CNS tumours and breast cancer. Dr Dua has also been involved in geriatric oncology services as part of his role as medical oncologist. He has been running the multidisclipnary clinic in Canberra for the past 2.5 years.
Dr Dua has published several articles in peer reviewed international journals. He is actively involved in teaching and research through his current affiliation with the Australian National University, Canberra. Dr. Martine Extermann is Professor of Oncology and Medicine at the University of South Florida. She is a Senior Member in the Senior Adult Oncology Program at the Moffitt Cancer Center. She earned her medical diploma and her medical PhD at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She has a Swiss Board Certification in Internal Medicine, specialty Oncology-Hematology. She also holds ABIM certifications in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She has worked at Moffitt since 1994 and has been a faculty member since 1997. Her research focuses on cancer in the elderly. Her main areas of investigation are comorbidity, comprehensive assessment, and prediction/prevention of treatment toxicity in older cancer patients.
She served as Chair of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group’s Subcommittee on Aging and is presently involved in the South West Oncology Group. She also served as President of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG), of which she is also a founding board member. She served on the ASCO Education and Scientific Program Committees, and is an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Extermann was presented at ASCO 2009 with the B.J. Kennedy Award for Scientific Excellence in Geriatric Oncology.

Dr Ravindran Kanesvaran is a Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology of the National Cancer Centre Singapore. He is also an Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is actively involved in graduate medical education and is a core faculty member of the Medical Oncology Senior Residency Program and the Singhealth Internal Medicine Residency Program.
He completed his medical oncology speciality training in the National Cancer Centre Singapore. After completion of that training he followed up with a fellowship in genitourinary oncology (GU) and geriatric oncology in Duke Cancer Institute in North Carolina, USA on a Healthcare Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Health Singapore. His research interests include GU oncology and geriatric oncology. He has published in a number of well-known peer reviewed journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology and Lancet Oncology.
He has also been awarded a number of awards including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO GU) Merit Award 2009, American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) scholar-in-training Award 2010 and European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) fellowship award 2012. He is currently the President of the Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO) and the Singapore Geriatric Oncology Society. He has been appointed as European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Faculty 2015-2016. He is on the Scientific and Education Committee and the National Representative for Singapore in the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG). He was recently awarded National Representative of the Year SIOG 2014 award.
Dr Susan Mercado is a medical doctor and public health expert with over 30 years of experience. For 15 years, she had a distinguished career with the World Health Organization, Western Pacific Regional Office where she led the response to some of the most complex challenges of public health today—noncommunicable diseases (including tobacco, alcohol, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity); climate and health; malnutrition; violence and injuries; disability; mental health and substance abuse; maternal and child health; and urban health and inequity. Previously, she was Undersecretary and Chief of Staff of the Department of Health, Republic of the Philippines.
In 2018, she was named as Special Envoy of the President for Global Health Initiatives and now works full time with the Philippine Red Cross, as Deputy Secretary General in charge of Centers for Health in Humanitarian Action with oversight of primary health care, blood services, dialysis, water sanitation and hygiene, welfare services and safety services/injury prevention.
Dr Mercado has degrees of A.B. Philosophy (magna cum laude), Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from the University of the Philippines. She was named Distinguished Alumni in Global Health by the University of the Philippines in 2017. Siri Rostoft is a medical doctor at Oslo University Hospital, Norway, specialized in internal medicine and geriatric medicine. She completed her PhD about geriatric assessment in older surgical cancer patients in 2011. Her main research interests in geriatric oncology are the clinical importance of geriatric assessment and interventions and frailty. She is a deputy editor for Journal of Geriatric Oncology.
Dr. Manuel Francisco T Roxas (nicknamed "Ramy") is a Filipino colorectal surgeon. Currently he is the Director of the Commission on Cancer of the Philippine College of Surgeons, the President of ERAS Society Philippines, and Advisor to Ayala Health. He is presently enrolled at the Harvard Medical School Surgical Leadership Program. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Department of Surgery of The Medical City and Co-Director of the TMC APS Cancer Institute. He is a former President of the ASEAN Society of Colorectal Surgeons and the Philippine Society of Colorectal Surgeons (2 terms), and former Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery, University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital.
He pioneered the following procedures in the Philippines: Robotic rectal cancer surgery; laparoscopic colorectal surgery; transanal endoscopic microsurgery; and endorectal/endoanal ultrasonography, the multidisciplinary approach to colorectal cancer treatment, and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery.
He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of the University of the Philippines.
Nicamil K. Sanchez, PhD is the first Filipino Geriatric Social Worker and he is also the first Filipino Academic Visitor at Oxford Institute of Population Ageing. Dr. Nick have finished his PhD at Australian Catholic University and his dissertation is entitled “Exploring the journey towards successful ageing in the Philippines: A mixed method study” and he is a recipient of the prestigious Australian Leadership Awards. Dr. Nick have also finished the Postgraduate Degree in Gerontology and Geriatrics at the European Centre of Gerontology and Geriatrics University of Malta through the United Nations Institute of Ageing Fellowship. Dr. Nick is a social worker and have significantly contributed in the development of policy and program for older persons in the Philippines. Dr. Nick’s publications on older persons is accessible online. At present, Dr. Nick is the Manager of the Welfare Services Philippine Red Cross.

Dr. Dennis Serrano is a urologist and a transplant surgeon as a sub-specialty He has been in practice since he got back from the US in 1997. He brought to the Philippines the technology of robotics surgery. It is technology that’s only a decade old, made famous in the US and Europe. It is minimally invasive surgery made better with the use of a robot, therefore making it more precise - enabling its use to operate on prostate cancer.
Hans Wildiers is a medical oncologist dedicated to breast cancer research and geriatric oncology. He is staff member at the department of general medical oncology in the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium since 2004. He has been coordinator of many academic studies in the field of breast cancer and geriatric oncology, and author of 147 peer reviewed papers in 2014. He is executive board member of SIOG, the international society of geriatric oncology. Since 2008, he is chairmen of the elderly task force cancer of the elderly of the European Organization of Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). He was associate editor of Annals of Oncology from 2010 till 2013.
