Datuk Syed Zaid Albar was appointed the Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) on 1 November 2018. He was previously the Managing Partner of Albar & Partners. Before joining the SC, Datuk Syed Zaid Albar has relinquished all his interest in Albar & Partners.
A lawyer by training, Datuk Syed Zaid has over 38 years’ experience in legal practice predominantly in the fields of corporate law, capital market, conventional banking and Islamic finance.
He has been recognised for his contribution and achievements in the legal practice through numerous domestic and international awards. Among them are ‘Leading Individual’ in the area of Banking and Finance by The Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2003 – 2013), ‘Dealmaker of the Year’ (2014 – 2016) and ‘Managing Partner of the Year’ (2014-2015 and 2017) at the ALB Malaysia Law Awards.
With his experience in finance and law, Datuk Syed Zaid has served on the Islamic Law Review Committee of Bank Negara Malaysia and the Appeals Committee of Bursa Malaysia Bhd. He has also served on the boards of several public-listed companies in Malaysia, and as Secretary to the Perdana Leadership Foundation and the Perdana Global Peace Foundation.
Datuk Syed Zaid has a degree in law from the United Kingdom. He is a Barrister at Law of the Lincoln’s Inn, UK and an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

She has over 20 years of experience in banking, capital markets and asset management. Gerald Ambrose is the Chief Executive Officer of Aberdeen Standard Islamic Investments (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the group's Islamic fund management hub at Aberdeen Standard Investments. Gerald joined Aberdeen Asset Management in 2005 after the company was selected to be the first licensed foreign-owned fund manager under the government's Special Scheme. Previously, Gerald was an institutional sales director covering ASEAN equities at Kim Eng Securities in Singapore, HSBC James Capel in London and BNP Paribas Securities London, the latter sending him to set up the institutional broking operations of its associate, Mohaiyani Securities Sdn Bhd, in 1990. Before that, Gerald served as a submarine officer in the Royal Navy 1980 - 1987.

Deputy General Manager - Digital at Securities Commission Malaysia
Azrina currently heads the Digital Department which is part of the Innovation, Digital & Strategy Business Group of the Securities Commission Malaysia. In particular, she has led the development of the Digital Investment Management regulatory framework which was launched in May 2017.
Azrina has more than 18 years of experience in capital market regulatory and policy work. Her previous portfolios include leading capital market negotiations in international, regional and bilateral free trade agreements. She was also involved in the development of policies relating to equity crowdfunding, P2P financing, venture capital, private equity, investment banking and Islamic banking frameworks. Prior to her involvement in policy work, her earlier portfolios include advisory work on capital market regulations and law reform involving the Parliamentary process. Nigel Gnoh is Associate Director, Business Development for Southeast Asia at DTCC. Munirah joined Principal Asset Management Berhad (formerly known as CIMB-Principal Asset Management Berhad) in November 2006 and was later appointed as Deputy CEO in November 2008. Then, Munirah was responsible for the development of institutional, corporate and international business opportunities and institutional sales. She also served as the Director of CIMB-Principal and Commissioner of PT CIMB-Principal Asset Management in Indonesia. She previously worked as a G7 Economist and strategist for a Fortune 500 multinational oil and gas company. Prior to that, she was a fixed income portfolio manager for emerging markets at Rothschild Asset Management in London.
Munirah was appointed as CEO in August 2013. Shern-Ling Koh is a portfolio manager for Principal Real Estate Investors, the dedicated real estate unit of Principal Global Investors. He is responsible for researching Asian Pacific listed property securities for the team’s global real estate strategies. Shern joined the firm in early 2014. He was previously the CEO/CIO at OSK International Asset Management where he managed all investment mandates for their public and private equity business in Singapore. Mezhgan Qabool is a Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Eurex Exchange, one of the world’s leading derivatives exchanges, based in Singapore.
Mezhgan began her career at Eurex in Singapore where she contributed to the establishment of the Exchange’s branch office, working closely with the market participants and regulators to expand the Exchange’s derivatives offering in the Asia Pacific region.

Rejina is the Country Head and Managing Director of Nomura Asset Management Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and has been responsible for driving the firm’s business in the country since it was set up in December 2006.

Hasan Rauf is Executive Director and Head of Business Development for Asia Pacific at DTCC, a global leader in the financial services industry. Hasan’s current role is to manage and drive business growth for the company’s portfolio of leading-edge solutions in Asia Pacific, covering institutional trade matching (Omgeo Central Trade Manager®), data services (Omgeo ALERT® and Omgeo BenchmarksSM), and collateral management (Margin Transit Utility). In this capacity, Hasan is responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s sales and business development teams in Asia Pacific. Paul Sandhu is the Head of Multi-Assets Quant Solutions (MAQS) and Client Advisory Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, he leads the region’s MAQS business to further deepen the firm’s existing broad range of investment capabilities in this space; and is responsible for the development and implementation of customized investment strategies and solutions for institutional investors and distribution channels in the region.
Paul’s remit also includes developing and managing multi-asset quantitative strategies utilizing cutting edge investment science in their portfolio construction, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Avinash Satwalekar is the Country Head of Malaysia and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and is responsible for leading the firm's retail and institutional distribution efforts across Malaysia. Aside from his responsibilities in Malaysia, Mr. Satwalekar continues to serve as Chairman of Vietcombank Fund Management (VCBF), a joint venture between Franklin Templeton and Vietcombank in Vietnam.
Mr. Satwalekar was previously the CEO and CIO for VCBF based in Ho Chi Minh City. He oversaw the combined business and investment activities of the group and under his leadership, Franklin Templeton was one of the first asset managers to launch an open-ended retail fund in Vietnam in 2013. Prior to his role in Vietnam, Mr. Satwalekar was a vice president, portfolio manager and research analyst for Franklin Portfolio Advisors (FPA), a division of FTPA. He was a member of the Franklin Small Cap Growth portfolio management team and was the lead manager for the private small cap accounts for FPA. Before that, Mr. Satwalekar was a vice president and research analyst for Franklin Equity Group. He specialized in research analysis of the computer software industries and IT service companies.
Mr. Satwalekar joined Franklin Templeton in 1996 as a management trainee working on Franklin Convertible Securities Fund from March 1997 to June 1998. Prior to Franklin, he worked for DSP Merrill Lynch in the Debt Origination Group.

David Smith is Head of Corporate Governance, a role in which he supports Aberdeen’s Asian Equities and Fixed Income Teams through research and engagement. David joined Aberdeen in 2011 from ISS, where he was Head of Asia (ex-Japan) Research.
David has a PhD in corporate governance and an MA in Corporate Strategy and Governance from the University of Nottingham and a BSc in Business Economics from the University of Wales. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Alan Tan is the Chief Economist of Affin Investment Bank. He joined the organisation in 2008, where his main responsibility is to provide regular strategic and economics research reports, as well as frequent presentations on the global and Malaysian economy for the bank’s institutional clients. Teoh Kok Lin is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Singular Asset Management - a boutique Asian equity fund management company based in Malaysia and Singapore that caters to institutional investors and high net worth individuals.
Kok Lin is an independent director of Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC), a subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia, which facilitates small and medium-sized enterprises to obtain bank financing. He is also the Chairman of CGC’s Board Investment Committee where he guides CGC’s fixed income investments, amongst others.

Dato’ Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of KWAP effective May 2, 2013 until October 31st 2018. He previously served as the General Manager, Treasury Department of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) since October 2007.
Dato’ Wan Kamaruzaman started his working career with Malayan Banking Berhad since 1981, mostly in Treasury Department with two overseas postings at Hamburg, Germany as Chief Dealer and London, United Kingdom as Treasury Manager. After leaving Maybank in 1994, he served as CEO and Director with several companies within the Affin Group until 2005. He then briefly served Kemuncak Facilities Management Sdn Bhd and Izoma (M) Sdn Bhd, both as Executive Director of Finance until 2007.
Dato’ Wan Kamaruzaman is a Board Member of Valuecap Sdn Bhd and Malakoff Corporation Bhd as well as the Director of Prima Ekuiti (UK) Limited, a subsidiary of KWAP.
Dato’ Wan Kamaruzaman was appointed as the first Chairman of the Institutional Investors Council which was established in 2015 to represent the interest of institutional investors in Malaysia. He is also a member of the FTSE ESG Advisory Committee (based in London) since September 2015. His business acumen and talent in the industry had earned him a special recognition award from MSWG for contribution towards enhancing corporate governance practices in Malaysia. He also became a member of the Institute of Integrity Malaysia, corporate member of International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) and Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA) in 2015.

John Wu is Associate Director, Business Development based in Hong Kong. In his current role, John is responsible for providing strategic direction to expand DTCC’s business in Institutional Trade Processing and Data Services in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. John spent six years managing South-East Asian markets based in DTCC Singapore before moving to Hong Kong in the summer of 2014 to assume his current role where his remit later expanded to include first Taiwan and later, Australia and New Zealand. John joined Omgeo, now DTCC, as part of Omgeo’s inaugural Future Talent Program in 2008.John Wu is Associate Director, Business Development based in Hong Kong.
