Representatives from NCAPEC Board Member companies are invited to join a Board Discussion on Supply Chain Recommendations in Response to COVID-19. The objective of this event is to discuss recommendations NCAPEC should convey to APEC governments regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global supply chains. This will also serve as an opportunity to discuss means and mechanisms for engaging with APEC officials including by potentially holding virtual APEC workshops (i.e. the APEC Alliance for Supply Chain Connectivity) and leveraging the APEC Business Advisory Council to expand advocacy efforts beyond U.S. companies. This moderated discussion will feature opening remarks from discussion leaders followed by Q&A and an open dialogue among NCAPEC's Board. We look forward to your contributions.

Potential topics for discussion include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating common definitions and clarity around essential and critical businesses and their employees
  • Eliminating tariffs on essential products
  • Expediting trade facilitation for essential products
  • Eliminating export restrictions on essential products
  • Establishing norms for closing and reopening borders in response to successive waves of the pandemic
  • Digitizing the supply chain
  • Keeping trade finance flowing
