Event Details

This workshop by the Joint Commission International is designed to provide students with an overview on the requirements for patient safety and risk management in a healthcare organization related to the International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs). The focus of the course is on how to understand Monitoring IPSGs and how to identify errors and patient safety; to understand how to identify, report and analyze adverse events related to IPSGs; to understand the role of a culture of safety and to understand the role of root cause analysis in managing IPSGs events.

The course provides a focus on managing risk and how to categorize and define near miss events and risks related to IPSGs; how to report and analyze near miss events; how to identify high-risk processes; how to prioritize risk-related processes; and how to apply proactive risk assessment analysis methods to identify areas for improvement dealing with IPSGs. It also provides several tools and techniques that enable participants to guide teams and lead the process improvement efforts to control and prevent medical errors and near misses with the use of the TRACER technique. The course uses a competency-based approach that emphasizes the application aspects of adult learning.


At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will acquire knowledge and skills on:
